A little about me

I was born and raised in Harstad - a small town near Lofoten in the Northern part of Norway. I got my ham radio licence in 1993 as a 17 year old (now you know my age as well). I first got interested in ham radio through the JOTA within the scout movement. And when a friend asked me to join him for morse and theory training - it was easy to answer yes. Later that year I was rewarded with the call sign LB2ME. In those days there were different licence classes i Norway (not anymore). So the year after I got a full ham radio licence with all privileges (call sign LA3YJA). Some years after the differences in licence classes was removed, I got my first call sign back again. These days all new radio amateurs get call signs that starts with the LA prefix.

I am a member of the local radio amateur group (Kristiansandsgruppen/LA9K). I mainly operate SSB, but my plan is to get the CW key going again. Due to my background within the scout movement, I have also been active as a ham radio operator during the JOTA - which is a lot of fun!

I live together with my XYL Solfrid in Lillesand, a small village town in the southern part of Norway with approximately 9000 inhabitants.

My education is theological. I work as a youth pastor in the baptist church in Kristiansand (the neighbour city - not far away). I also work as a hotel receptionist.

Besides from ham radio, my main interests are computers and building web applications. I also enjoy travelling.
